Born and raised in the West of Ireland, I have lived for more than 20 years in the US. Most of that time has been spent in the Chicago area. I have been many things in my chequered career – a lawyer, a preschool teacher’s assistant, a PhD candidate, a clinic supervisor, a real estate agent, and a mom. I recently moved with my husband and son to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as my husband has accepted a position in KSA. We are the proud parents of one son, Noel aged 19, smart, funny, autistic,  and the center of our universe. We are tremendously excited at the prospect of this new adventure.

Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog. My understanding is that KAUST are looking for high quality students who have a genuine desire to achieve and contribute to the region and the world beyond. I believe the application process is quite straightforward and – unlike many institutions of higher learning, – there is no application fee. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Im enjoying reading all your blogs and am glad you’re enjoying your time in SA. I’m living in Northern California and have applied for a position in KAUST’s IT devision. I applied for the position 4 weeks ago, but haven’t yet received a response. I wanted to know if you can give me an updates on how long it took for your husband to receive any replies from KAUST?

I’m currently 28 years old so I’m sure I dont have as much experience as your husband but wanted to see if my applications has simply been rejected without a response or is still in process. I would appreciate any help you can provide me, I’m getting a be anxious at the moment 🙂

Thanks and enjoy your time here. BTW – I’m glad to see your are getting accustomed to the difference of culture there. I’ve heard from others, many westerners have a difficult time. More power to you!

      Hi Fahad:
Thank you for visiting and reading my blog. I am afraid I can be of very little help to you regarding the application process. My husband works on the academic side and the application/interview process is very different for them. I am very much enjoying my time here and I hope you get the opportunity to enjoy it too. Best wishes with your application.

Hi, from what I can tell you haven’t posted about life at KAUST since late 2010. Are you still there?
